Good evening everyONE,
Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia (FMNS) is hiring an Executive Director to guide the organization through its next phase of growth and systems-building. FMNS is a cooperative of 40+ markets working to strengthen local food systems, support small-scale entrepreneurship, and build community vitality.
Working closely with the Board of Directors and staff team, the Executive Director will provide strategic direction, and steady governance support while helping translate cooperative values into day-to-day practice.
Areas of focus include securing multi-year funding, strengthening partnerships across food development sectors, building sustainable internal systems, and supporting a collaborative workplace culture.

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about local food, rural economic development, and community connection, equity-centered leadership (IDEA principles), and stewardship towards change.
This full-time position is mainly remote, with required travel across the province; it offers a salary range of $65,000–$68,000, along with benefits and professional development support.

FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS
The Halifax Maternal Wellness Program is a new Halifax-wide initiative that supports mothers, birthing people and families during pregnancy, the postpartum and early parenthood. It’s completely free and offers: family, couples and perinatal counselling sessions, Mom-to-Mom Support Circle, a 6-week maternal wellness program twice a year, and information resources for new parents, partners and caregivers. African Nova Scotian and Black youth across Canada deserve mental health and well-being support informed by their rich cultures and diverse lived experiences. RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is a national, 24/7, bilingual E-Mental Health Support Service for Black youth. The service is free and available from coast to coast to coast. The North End Community Health Centre offers mental health services through their PAUSE Mental Health program. They are open from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays for over the phone appointments, and Wednesday’s for in-person appointments at 2131 Gottingen Street. Please call their toll free number (1-800-598-5270) at any time, and leave your name and phone number to be matched with a therapist.
