Good evening everyONE, 
One North End Economic Development Society (in partnership with the YMCA) is hiring a Job Success Coordinator and Youth Case Manager/Mentor.
Both positions work with the project team to provide employment and life skills-related training and support to youth (ages 18-26) in the North End who are attached to Employment Support and Income Assistance (ESIA) at risk of attachment to ESIA without employment interventions. 
The Job Success Coordinator will be responsible for matching clients to employment opportunities and working with employers to promote their clients. Whereas, the Youth Case Manager / Mentor will be responsible for completed client intake and needs assessments and help them develop a clear plan to achieve their employment goals with the support of EDGE.
The salary for both full-time (35hrs/week) positions is $45,000-$47,000. Priority will be given to African Nova Scotians who self-identify and only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. The closing date is upon successful hire.

  NEW   Dalhousie’s Schulich School of Law is hiring a Community Chair, Health Justice Partnerships. This is a full‑time, 14‑month limited‑term Instructor position starting May 1, 2026. The role involves teaching, community‑engaged health justice work, and building partnerships with community organizations. No salary information is listed in the posting yet.   NEW   IWK Health’s department of Adolescent Intensive Services Mental Health And Addictions is hiring a Clinical Manager, Intensive Services.   NEW  The discovery centre is hiring a STEM Camp Counsellor. This full-time seasonal position encourages applications from candidates who self-identify as a member of an underrepresented group, including Indigenous people (especially Mi’kmaq), people of Black/African descent (especially African Nova Scotians), members of other racialized groups, women. Programs, Events, Grants & Additional Opportunities:

  NEW    HCi3’s Grant Program  is now open, supporting innovative projects that help Halifax/Kjipuktuk reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a just and equitable low-carbon transition. Catalyst Stream applications are accepted on a rolling basis until funds are allocated, with grants up $10,000, designed for new or emerging climate projects. The Acceleration Stream has two intakes (Spring intake EOI due March 23 and applications due April 13 and Fall intake EOI due October 5 and applications due November 2), with grants up $75,000, designed for larger, scalable initiatives. HCi3 is hosting two virtual information sessions for organizations interested in applying: February 25, 2:00 PM (Atlantic Time) and February 26 | 10:00 AM (Atlantic Time). A minimum of 50% of their grant program is dedicated to projects that advance social equity in climate action. Click HERE for more information.

  NEW    The  RBC Foundation Peer Support Certification Initiative  is designed to address systemic inequities in peer support by providing opportunities for Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Colour (BIPOC) peer supporters to apply to Peer Support Canada’s National Certification Program at no cost. Historically, many people who have accessed certification have been predominantly white, and many BIPOC peer supporters continue to face financial, systemic, and structural barriers to accessing professional development and certification opportunities. The goal of this initiative is to select a diverse group of BIPOC peer supporters who would benefit from this opportunity and who experience significant systemic barriers to accessing certification, while recognizing that many more individuals are deserving than the number of funded spots available. Expression of Interest will close at the end of the day on March 2nd, 2026.   NEW   Health Association of African Canadian’s  Healing Our Bodies, Families, and Communities: Cancer Health & Wellness for the Black Communities Conference  brings together Black community members, healthcare providers, and advocates to address cancer education, prevention, treatment, and survivorship. The event will highlight culturally relevant care, health equity, and the unique experiences of Black individuals navigating cancer. Together, they will share knowledge, amplify lived experiences, and connect with trusted health professionals to explore cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship through a culturally responsive lens. Their goal is to empower our community with information, resources, and hope while fostering healing, dialogue, and collective strength.   NEW   Dalhousie University’s Black and African Diaspora Studies (BAFD) Program, in partnership with the Pan African Council, is set to host its Black History Month  Annual Liberation Dialogues Webinar ! Taking place on February 25th, 2026, from 6pm AST,  this year’s lecture will be delivered by Dr. Barbra Reynolds – member and former Chair of the UN Working Group on People of African Descent (WGEPAD). Dr. Reynolds’ lecture will focus on the role of Black Studies in an era defined by overlapping global catastrophes—racial capitalism, ecological collapse, militarism, resurgent fascism, and the ongoing afterlives of colonialism and slavery. Drawing on historical and contemporary struggles across the African diaspora, Black Studies in a Time of Global Crises: Envisioning Emancipatory Futures for Global Africa explores how Black Studies provides the analytical tools to name systems of domination, expose their interconnections, and challenge the inevitability of crisis. At the same time, it centres Black intellectual, cultural, and grassroots traditions that imagine and practice freedom beyond the limits of the present. Click HERE for more information.

  NEW   Applications are now open for  Team Nova Scotia Mission Staff  for the 2027 Canada Winter Games in Québec City. Their team is looking to continue supporting Team Nova Scotia at all Canada Games events with a diverse Mission Staff. Representation matters; not just on the field, but behind the scenes too. For many Black and African Nova Scotian athletes and coaches, seeing someone who shares their lived experience in a leadership or liaison role can be incredibly powerful.  2. Deadline Update: March 6, 2026. The 2026 African Nova Scotian History Challenges are live, and they have already received some incredible projects. Due to the strong interest and quality of submissions ahead of the original February 6 deadline, they are extending the deadline to allow even more students to participate. Students from Primary to Grade 12 are invited to explore the stories, achievements, and legacy of Black communities across Nova Scotia through art, research, and creativity. This annual challenge brings classrooms, families, and communities together. They are inspired by what has already been submitted and look forward to seeing even more projects. Click HERE for more information.

  The Black Business Initiative has a couple opportunities:

1.   NEW  The  Black Business Summit and 30th Anniversary Gala  in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from March 19–20,2026. This year’s theme, Innovation in Motion: The Future of Black Entrepreneurship in Atlantic Canada, sets the stage for a dynamic and inspiring two-day event. The Summit will: celebrate and showcase Black businesses through our Business Awards and vendor market. Feature interactive workshops and discussions on key topics such as: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Marketing, Innovative Financing and more. Provide opportunities to gain insights from an inspiring keynote speaker’s including Dennis Mitchell of the Black Opportunity Fund (BOF) and the Honourable Greg Fergus, M.P. Grab your tickets early. 2.  NEW  The  Barrier Breakers Youth Program  is a transformative employment initiative led by the Black Business Initiative (BBI), with support from the Government of Canada through the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS). This program is designed to empower youth aged 15 to 30 across Atlantic Canada who face barriers to employment—whether due to limited work experience, systemic challenges, geographic isolation, disabilities, mental health, or other socioeconomic factors. All you have to do is complete the eligibility form. If eligible, you will be contacted and asked to fill out a career interest survey, and a scheduled one-on-one interview will follow. After this, 17-week paid program with job readiness training and employer placement begins. Attend one of their virtual sessions March 5th and March 17th at 2 pm on Zoom.   Tribe Network is hosting the  Black Youth AI Hackathon , a virtual innovation sprint for Black university students across Canada. Participants will explore how AI can drive real impact in education, health, infrastructure, and business while competing for up to $5,000 in cash prizes. No coding experience is required, just curiosity, creativity, and a desire to build solutions that empower Black communities.   RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is inviting Black youth across Canada to be creators in their first-ever  Canada-wide Storytelling Contest , in collaboration with their RiseUp partner network 1834 Foundation and Hip Hop Healing. Using #RiseUpforBlackMentalHealth and guided prompts, they’re calling on Black youth to share their stories through videos, photos, artwork, writing, and poetry. This is a space to celebrate Black identity, heritage, ancestry, joy, culture, music, food, community, stepping into a new phase, or a day in the life of a Black youth.   The Black Cultural Centre’s 2026 African Heritage Month Gala  is taking place February 28th, 2026 from 5pm – 11:30pm at the Halifax Convention Centre. An unforgettable evening celebrating the rich culture and heritage of the Black community in Nova Scotia. Their theme “Deep Roots, Powerful Future” reflects the strength that comes from knowing where we come from. It’s a celebration of heritage, growth, and the collective resilience that empowers us to shape a brighter tomorrow. The African Heritage Gala is part of the Capital Campaign to Expand so that we can continue to educate and empower.   NEW   Applications for the  Nova Scotia Youth Climate Bursary’s  by Clean Foundation are now open! There are Five $2,500 Bursaries Available! If you are a high school student passionate about the environment, or planning to attend an environmental leadership course, or already diving into training in the clean economy, then this opportunity is for you. There is no requirement to be heading to university to qualify; this bursary is here to support your goals. FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS
  alongside   are providing support to people of African Descent in Nova Scotia with their  Provincial Impact Toll Free Line . This includes mental health supports, social supports, education information and supports, public health COVID-19 information and supports, and much more! Call them, toll free @ 1-855-732-1253.
  African Nova Scotian and Black youth across Canada deserve mental health and well-being support informed by their rich cultures and diverse lived experiences.  RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is a national, 24/7, bilingual E-Mental Health Support Service for Black youth. The service is free and available from coast to coast to coast. Click HERE for more information.
 Nova Village NS is now offering FREE family (with youth up to the age of 19),  couple, perinatal counselling and mental health assessments — available virtually or in person. This service is provided by a registered counselling therapist. In addition, there is a monthly peer support group for new moms and a 6-week mental wellness program.
