McInnes Cooper is seeking a dedicated and community-minded Land Titles Coordinator to join their Halifax office in a full-time, permanent position. In this role, you will play a meaningful part in supporting the African Nova Scotian community through the Land Titles Initiative, helping clients navigate important processes with care, respect, and cultural humility.

  NEW  Clean Foundation is hosting an upcoming virtual information session for the Clean Leadership Summer Internship Program! This is a great opportunity for employers to learn how the program can support your organizational goals, boost capacity, and connect you with motivated youth ready to make an impact in the clean economy. During these sessions, our team will walk you through program guidelines, wage subsidies, eligibility, and best practices for hosting an intern. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions and get personalized guidance to help you submit a strong application. Thanks to funding from the Nova Scotia Government through the Workplace Innovation and Productivity Skills Incentive Program (WIPSI), they’re bringing AI capacity-building training to Black not-for-profit organizations across the province.   NEW   The  Options Youth Program  is a federally funded program that is facilitated by Saint Mary’s Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre. This program is intended to assist youth in developing the skills and gaining the experience they need to successfully transition into the labor market. This program aims to support the needs of Black youth live in Nova Scotia, who facing barriers to employment. Participants benefit from the opportunity to develop skills, gain knowledge and networks through education, training, and absorb meaningful work experiences. This program provides guidance, individualized training, and mentorship to participants. All delivered virtually! This cohort is exclusively for youth between the ages of 18-30 who Identify as Black and live in Nova Scotia and includes 13 weeks of paid training (35 hours/week, based on provincial minimum wage).   The 2026 Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute  African Nova Scotian History Challenges  are now live! They welcome all students from grade primary to 12 explore the achievements and stories of Black communities in our province. The initiative brings classrooms, families, and communities together every year as hundreds of students create projects through art, research, and creativity. Awards totaling $3,000, medals, and prizes will be presented to winning recipients at an awards ceremony in the spring. Deadline February 6th.   Join Black Girls Pillow Talk for:  Leading with Care: Black Women & Community Safety . They are inviting Black women to join them on January 16th from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Zatzman Sportsplex where they will engage in an honest conversation and shared learning from their peers working in justice, crime prevention, and community safety. The conversation will be led by Angelina Simmonds, Founder of Black Girls Pillow Talk, and will feature a panel including: Mukisa Kakembo, Lawyer & FemEntity Founder, Angela Simmonds, Lawyer & A Team Coaching Founder, former politician, and Melodie Skeete, MSW RSW, Clinical Therapist, MTS Counseling Services. The event will be capped at 30 participants to ensure an intimate setting for open, honest conversation and meaningful connection. This event is FREE!    Free Health and Wellness Programs  are available in your community! The Community Health Teams offer practical, supportive sessions led by healthcare professionals on: Mental wellness; Parenting; Healthy eating; Physical activity; Reducing health risks.   The YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth has opened a new initiative:  Anchor Youth Space – North End Halifax . Anchor is a welcoming, low-barrier space designed to support the health and wellbeing of youth and their caregivers (aged 12-25) in the North End of Halifax. No appointments needed. No fees. Just a space built for you that is open evenings and weekends. Their mission is to empower youth and caregivers through accessible, responsive, and holistic support. Through collaboration with local organizations and government partners, Anchor offers integrated services in: Mental health and substance use; Employment and housing support; Community and social development. Operating all under one roof, it is designed by youth, for youth. Their team and services are rooted in equity, ensuring everyone gets the support and opportunities they need.  The PREP Academy online  Scholarship Directory  provides African Nova Scotian students access to a digital list of funding awards that can help support a student’s education. Organizations can POST awards for students to access. Click HERE to access. 

FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS
  alongside   are providing support to people of African Descent in Nova Scotia with their  Provincial Impact Toll Free Line . This includes mental health supports, social supports, education information and supports, public health COVID-19 information and supports, and much more! Call them, toll free @ 1-855-732-1253.
  African Nova Scotian and Black youth across Canada deserve mental health and well-being support informed by their rich cultures and diverse lived experiences.  RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is a national, 24/7, bilingual E-Mental Health Support Service for Black youth. The service is free and available from coast to coast to coast. Click HERE for more information.
 Nova Village NS is now offering FREE family (with youth up to the age of 19),  couple, perinatal counselling and mental health assessments — available virtually or in person. This service is provided by a registered counselling therapist. In addition, there is a monthly peer support group for new moms and a 6-week mental wellness program.

 The North End Community Health Centre offers mental health services through their PAUSE Mental Health program. They are open from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays for over the phone appointments, and Wednesday’s for in-person appointments at 2131 Gottingen Street. Please call their toll free number (1-800-598-5270) at any time, and leave your name and phone number to be matched with a therapist.
