The PREP Academy is hiring a  Finance & Administration Coordinator.

The Finance & Administration Coordinator supports the organization’s financial operations and administrative functions. This role will assist with payroll processing, financial tracking, reporting, HR administration, and overall day-to-day operations that help the organization run smoothly.

The PREP Academy is a community-based nonprofit that inspires and prepares African Nova Scotian students for college and university, supporting youth in Grades 10–12 as they transition into post-secondary education.

This part-time role with the intention to transition to full-time, has an hourly wage of $23–$27 per hour. The application deadline is March 22nd, 2026.

  Dalhousie University is hiring for a couple positions:
 
  NEW  1. The School of Physiotherapy in Dalhousie’s Faculty of Health invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor in Physiotherapy. This position is designated to candidates who self-identify as persons of Black/African descent (especially African Nova Scotians) or members of other racialized groups. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include establishing and operating a sustainable research program, teaching and mentoring in the entry-level and thesis-based programs, and contributing to the academic life of the School, Faculty, University, and community at large. Application deadline March 29th. 2. Schulich School of Law is hiring a  Community Chair, Health Justice Partnerships . This is a full‑time, 14‑month limited‑term Instructor position starting May 1, 2026. The role involves teaching, community‑engaged health justice work, and building partnerships with community organizations. No salary information is listed in the posting yet.   NEW    The Province of Nova Scotia is hiring for two positions.

1. The Justice department is hiring an  Executive Director, Accessibility Directorate.  This position has a bi-weekly salary of $5,229.78 – $6,537.21.This organization welcomes applications from Indigenous People, African Nova Scotians and Other Racially Visible Persons.  The IWK Children’s Hospital is hiring a  Registered Pharmacy Technician . This permanent full-time position has an hourly wage of $30.51-$35.63.  Imhotep’s Legacy Academy is hiring a  Culture of Growing Coordinator .This part-time position has an hourly wage of $20. This position will provide preference to applicants who demonstrate lived experience or interest in African Heritage.  The North End Community Health Centre is hiring for two positions:

   1. Mobile Outreach Street Health (MOSH) Registered Nurse. To ensure their organization represents the diverse people and communities they serve, this position is designated for individuals who identify as African Nova Scotian and/or people of African Descent.  The discovery centre is hiring a  STEM Camp Counsellor . This full-time seasonal position encourages applications from candidates who self-identify as a member of an underrepresented group, including Indigenous people (especially Mi’kmaq), people of Black/African descent (especially African Nova Scotians), members of other racialized groups, women.   NEW   Due to interest, the Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute added another opportunity to join this youth-centered workshop series focused on real conversations, practical tools, and meaningful action against anti-Black racism. Unpacking Hate: From Awareness to Action takes place March 17th, from 6 pm to 8 pm, at DBDLI, Halifax, for youth & young adults ages 18–35. Participants will engage in community-based learning and dialogue designed to build understanding and turn awareness into action. 3 x $2,500 grants available and there will be gift cards and tREv® merch to win.    HCi3’s Grant Program  is now open, supporting innovative projects that help Halifax/Kjipuktuk reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a just and equitable low-carbon transition. Catalyst Stream applications are accepted on a rolling basis until funds are allocated, with grants up $10,000, designed for new or emerging climate projects. The Acceleration Stream has two intakes (Spring intake EOI due March 23 and applications due April 13 and Fall intake EOI due October 5 and applications due November 2), with grants up $75,000, designed for larger, scalable initiatives. A minimum of 50% of their grant program is dedicated to projects that advance social equity in climate action. The first expression of interest deadline for 2026 is March 23.    Health Association of African Canadian’s  Healing Our Bodies, Families, and Communities: Cancer Health & Wellness for the Black Communities Conference  brings together Black community members, healthcare providers, and advocates to address cancer education, prevention, treatment, and survivorship. The event will highlight culturally relevant care, health equity, and the unique experiences of Black individuals navigating cancer. Together, they will share knowledge, amplify lived experiences, and connect with trusted health professionals to explore cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship through a culturally responsive lens. Their goal is to empower our community with information, resources, and hope while fostering healing, dialogue, and collective strength.   The Delmore Buddy Daye Learning Institute (DBDLI) has updated the deadline for their  2026 African Nova Scotian History Challenges  to March 6, 2026. Students from Primary to Grade 12 are invited to explore the stories, achievements, and legacy of Black communities across Nova Scotia through art, research, and creativity. This annual challenge brings classrooms, families, and communities together. They are inspired by what has already been submitted and look forward to seeing even more projects. Click HERE for more information.

  The Black Business Initiative has a couple opportunities:

1.   The  Black Business Summit and 30th Anniversary Gala  in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from March 19–20,2026. This year’s theme, Innovation in Motion: The Future of Black Entrepreneurship in Atlantic Canada, sets the stage for a dynamic and inspiring two-day event. The Summit will: celebrate and showcase Black businesses through our Business Awards and vendor market. Feature interactive workshops and discussions on key topics such as: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Marketing, Innovative Financing and more. Provide opportunities to gain insights from an inspiring keynote speaker’s including Dennis Mitchell of the Black Opportunity Fund (BOF) and the Honourable Greg Fergus, M.P. Grab your tickets early. 2. The  Barrier Breakers Youth Program  is a transformative employment initiative led by the Black Business Initiative (BBI), with support from the Government of Canada through the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS). This program is designed to empower youth aged 15 to 30 across Atlantic Canada who face barriers to employment—whether due to limited work experience, systemic challenges, geographic isolation, disabilities, mental health, or other socioeconomic factors. All you have to do is complete the eligibility form. If eligible, you will be contacted and asked to fill out a career interest survey, and a scheduled one-on-one interview will follow. After this, 17-week paid program with job readiness training and employer placement begins. Attend their virtual session March 17th at 2 pm on Zoom. Click HERE for the eligibility form.

  Applications for the  Nova Scotia Youth Climate Bursary’s  by Clean Foundation are now open! There are Five $2,500 Bursaries Available! If you are a high school student passionate about the environment, or planning to attend an environmental leadership course, or already diving into training in the clean economy, then this opportunity is for you. There is no requirement to be heading to university to qualify; this bursary is here to support your goals. FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS
  alongside   are providing support to people of African Descent in Nova Scotia with their  Provincial Impact Toll Free Line . This includes mental health supports, social supports, education information and supports, public health COVID-19 information and supports, and much more! Call them, toll free @ 1-855-732-1253.
  African Nova Scotian and Black youth across Canada deserve mental health and well-being support informed by their rich cultures and diverse lived experiences.  RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is a national, 24/7, bilingual E-Mental Health Support Service for Black youth. The service is free and available from coast to coast to coast. Click HERE for more information.
 Nova Village NS is now offering FREE family (with youth up to the age of 19),  couple, perinatal counselling and mental health assessments — available virtually or in person. This service is provided by a registered counselling therapist. In addition, there is a monthly peer support group for new moms and a 6-week mental wellness program.

 The North End Community Health Centre offers mental health services through their PAUSE Mental Health program. They are open from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays for over the phone appointments, and Wednesday’s for in-person appointments at 2131 Gottingen Street.
