1. The School of Physiotherapy in Dalhousie’s Faculty of Health invites applications for a Full-time Assistant or Associate Professor in Physiotherapy. NEW The Expression of Interest for the 2026 Bridge into Agriculture program is now open! This course blends online learning with practical experience growing a vegetable garden. It’s a fully online course (with optional in-person learning components). Explore the history of agriculture in African Nova Scotian communities, vegetable production, garden design, preparation, and much more. No experience required. This course runs April 13 until September 11, 2026. This program is open to African Nova Scotians and/or people of African descent who currently live in Nova Scotia. NEW PREP’s “Show Me the Money” is back again! Join them in this virtual workshop, created to help students discover new scholarship opportunities, craft standout applications, and approach the process with confidence. During this interactive session, participants will gain practical guidance on where to search for scholarships, how to avoid common application mistakes, and learn what reviewers are really looking for. NEW Join the Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute this Friday, March 20, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM, at the Black Cultural Centre, for an important Conversation recognizing the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This panel highlights the voices and leadership of young Black women who are challenging racism and creating change in their communities. They are honored to welcome: Moderator, Monica Njoku, and panelists: Dámini Awóyígá, Chanae Parsons, Nicole Johnson, and Lily Brigham-Gale. Together, they will share perspectives on leadership, advocacy, and the role of young Black women in shaping a more equitable future. Health Association of African Canadian’s has a couple opportunities:
NEW 1.The HAAC Board is inviting community members to step forward through a call for nominations ahead of their Annual General Meeting in June 2026. This is an opportunity for those who feel ready to take a more active role in the Association’s work or who are simply curious about what Board involvement entails to express their interest. By completing the HAAC Board Member Nomination Form, individuals can begin a conversation with the Association to learn more about the responsibilities, expectations, and impact of serving on the Board. 2. Healing Our Bodies, Families, and Communities: Cancer Health & Wellness for the Black Communities Conference brings together Black community members, healthcare providers, and advocates to address cancer education, prevention, treatment, and survivorship. The event will highlight culturally relevant care, health equity, and the unique experiences of Black individuals navigating cancer. Together, they will share knowledge, amplify lived experiences, and connect with trusted health professionals to explore cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship through a culturally responsive lens. Their goal is to empower our community with information, resources, and hope while fostering healing, dialogue, and collective strength. HCi3’s Grant Program is now open, supporting innovative projects that help Halifax/Kjipuktuk reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a just and equitable low-carbon transition. Catalyst Stream applications are accepted on a rolling basis until funds are allocated, with grants up $10,000, designed for new or emerging climate projects. The Acceleration Stream has two intakes (Spring intake EOI due March 23 and applications due April 13 and Fall intake EOI due October 5 and applications due November 2), with grants up $75,000, designed for larger, scalable initiatives. A minimum of 50% of their grant program is dedicated to projects that advance social equity in climate action. The first expression of interest deadline for 2026 is March 23. FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS
alongside are providing support to people of African Descent in Nova Scotia with their Provincial Impact Toll Free Line . This includes mental health supports, social supports, education information and supports, public health COVID-19 information and supports, and much more! Call them, toll free @ 1-855-732-1253.
African Nova Scotian and Black youth across Canada deserve mental health and well-being support informed by their rich cultures and diverse lived experiences. RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is a national, 24/7, bilingual E-Mental Health Support Service for Black youth. The service is free and available from coast to coast to coast. Nova Village NS is now offering FREE family (with youth up to the age of 19), couple, perinatal counselling and mental health assessments — available virtually or in person. This service is provided by a registered counselling therapist. In addition, there is a monthly peer support group for new moms and a 6-week mental wellness program.

The North End Community Health Centre offers mental health services through their PAUSE Mental Health program. They are open from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays for over the phone appointments, and Wednesday’s for in-person appointments at 2131 Gottingen Street.
