The PREP Academy is welcoming applications for a Student Success Coach! This position plays a key part in PREP’s mission to prepare Grade 10–12 students for college and university, offering one-on-one coaching, group workshops, and culturally informed guidance that helps youth make decisions, solve problems, and stay on track academically.
This role is intentionally designated for African Nova Scotian candidates with ties to historic communities, ensuring students see themselves represented in positions of leadership and influence.
The Coach will be based at Citadel High School, connecting directly with students, parents, and community to build confidence, expand opportunities, and support successful transitions into post-secondary education.
Key responsibilities include managing a caseload of students, supporting scholarship applications, planning workshops, coordinating events, and engaging families and community partners to create strong wraparound support.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, motivating, and able to build trust with youth while demonstrating initiative, creativity, and strong communication skills. With a salary range of $50,000–$56,565 and comprehensive benefits, this full-time role is perfect for someone passionate about youth empowerment, education access, and community leadership.

This 12-week part-time program (January–March 2026) helps Atlantic Canadians strengthen resilience through hands-on learning, peer collaboration, and practical adaptation projects. FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS
The Halifax Maternal Wellness Program is a new Halifax-wide initiative that supports mothers, birthing people and families during pregnancy, the postpartum and early parenthood. It’s completely free and offers: family, couples and perinatal counselling sessions, Mom-to-Mom Support Circle, a 6-week maternal wellness program twice a year, and information resources for new parents, partners and caregivers. African Nova Scotian and Black youth across Canada deserve mental health and well-being support informed by their rich cultures and diverse lived experiences. RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is a national, 24/7, bilingual E-Mental Health Support Service for Black youth. The service is free and available from coast to coast to coast. The North End Community Health Centre offers mental health services through their PAUSE Mental Health program. They are open from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays for over the phone appointments, and Wednesday’s for in-person appointments at 2131 Gottingen Street.
