Applications are now open for the NSCC Entrepreneur-in-the-Making Program Black and African Nova Scotian Cohort, a unique initiative dedicated to uplifting and equipping emerging Black entrepreneurs across Nova Scotia. Delivered in partnership with Blk Women in Excellence (BWIE), this program supports aspiring business owners through hands-on training, mentorship, and up to $3,500 in funding to bring your ideas to life.
Over a six-week journey, participants gain guidance from experienced entrepreneurs, refine their business models, and join a supportive network of innovators and community builders. Admission also includes a 1-year membership and access to all BWIE programs.
This opportunity is open to current NSCC students in good academic standing and NSCC graduates from 2015 onward who self-identify as Black/African Nova Scotian, or part of the African diaspora. Preference will also be given to single parents. Applications will be assessed based on the viability and clarity of your business idea, your understanding of your target demographic, and your commitment to growth.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your entrepreneurial journey, this is your chance to access funding, mentorship, and real-world support to help your vision thrive. The program will be launching in January 2026!

This supportive, judgement-free, and interactive 1.5-hour multiple mini-interview experience is designed to help you build confidence and sharpen your skills. This 12-week part-time program (January–March 2026) helps Atlantic Canadians strengthen resilience through hands-on learning, peer collaboration, and practical adaptation projects. FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS
The Halifax Maternal Wellness Program is a new Halifax-wide initiative that supports mothers, birthing people and families during pregnancy, the postpartum and early parenthood. It’s completely free and offers: family, couples and perinatal counselling sessions, Mom-to-Mom Support Circle, a 6-week maternal wellness program twice a year, and information resources for new parents, partners and caregivers. African Nova Scotian and Black youth across Canada deserve mental health and well-being support informed by their rich cultures and diverse lived experiences. RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is a national, 24/7, bilingual E-Mental Health Support Service for Black youth. The service is free and available from coast to coast to coast. The North End Community Health Centre offers mental health services through their PAUSE Mental Health program. They are open from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays for over the phone appointments, and Wednesday’s for in-person appointments at 2131 Gottingen Street. Please call their toll free number (1-800-598-5270) at any time, and leave your name and phone number to be matched with a therapist.
