Good evening everyONE, 
 
The PREP Academy is seeking a Program & Outreach Coordinator to help inspire and prepare African Nova Scotian students toward success in college and university. Reporting to the Manager of Programs & Partnerships, this position supports the planning and delivery of youth-focused programs, events, and outreach initiatives that empower students and families across Nova Scotia.
This opportunity is designated to Indigenous African Nova Scotian applicants who were born in Nova Scotia and have ties to African Nova Scotian communities, reflecting PREP’s commitment to representation and leadership as an organization.
Key responsibilities include coordinating community partnerships, managing logistics for student events, supporting facilitators and mentors, maintaining digital records, and representing PREP at local engagements. The ideal candidate will be organized, community-minded, and passionate about creating meaningful career pathways for African Nova Scotian youth.
If you’re intentional about uplifting youth and positive educational impact, this is your chance to make a difference. Employment compensation includes full-time hours, a hybrid work model, and an annual salary of $50,000.

  NEW   Join the Delmore Buddy Daye Learning Institute (DBDLI) for     Mental Health Selfie Poems — A Poetry Workshop & Conversation . If you are a Black Nova Scotian aged 16+ with a story, experience, or perspective on mental health, mental illness, or addiction you’d like to express through poetry, then this event is for you. Listen to HRM Poet Laureate Anna Quon and former Youth Poet Laureate Asiah Sparks in this evening of writing, reflection, and healing through words.   NEW   Build your skills in climate leadership with CLIMAtlantic’s  Climate Adaptation & Resilience Training (CART) program !
This 12-week part-time program (January–March 2026) helps Atlantic Canadians strengthen resilience through hands-on learning, peer collaboration, and practical adaptation projects. Open to municipal staff, community leaders, recent grads, and anyone advancing climate action, CART combines six online modules, check-ins, and a closing gathering. Participants gain tools to assess climate risk, center equity and Indigenous leadership, and drive real-world change. FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS
 The Halifax Maternal Wellness Program is a new Halifax-wide initiative that supports mothers, birthing people and families during pregnancy, the postpartum and early parenthood. It’s completely free and offers: family, couples and perinatal counselling sessions, Mom-to-Mom Support Circle, a 6-week maternal wellness program twice a year, and information resources for new parents, partners and caregivers.   African Nova Scotian and Black youth across Canada deserve mental health and well-being support informed by their rich cultures and diverse lived experiences.  RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is a national, 24/7, bilingual E-Mental Health Support Service for Black youth. The service is free and available from coast to coast to coast. Click HERE for more information.
 The North End Community Health Centre offers mental health services through their PAUSE Mental Health program. They are open from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays for over the phone appointments, and Wednesday’s for in-person appointments at 2131 Gottingen Street. Please call their toll free number (1-800-598-5270) at any time, and leave your name and phone number to be matched with a therapist.
