In partnership with the North End Community Health Centre and funded by the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, CBWA is offering a FREE 10-week community series called “Mindful Movement for Black Mental Health .” These sessions will take place Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm – 8 pm, from September 24th – November 26th, at 2150 Gottingen Street, North End Halifax. Designed with an Afrocentric approach, this series offers an opportunity to reconnect with your breath, your body, your mind and your community. Each Wednesday evening, you will gather for: nourishing food, supportive mental health conversations, and a gentle, beginner-friendly Kemetic Yoga practice focused on love and liberation. The Delmore Buddy Daye Learning Institute (DBDLI) is hosting an Africentric Education Symposium . This event will take place in a hybrid format during September 26 – 27th. From Reflection to Action: Ubuntu-Centered Perspectives in Education, this 2-day gathering brings together voices from Nova Scotia and South Africa to reflect on 30 years since the BLAC Report, uplift youth voices, and build toward the May 2026 Africentric Conference. The symposium has subthemes: BLAC to Sankofa: Reflecting on the 1994 BLAC Report; and Decolonizing Education Praxis: Rooted in Ubuntu Values. Call for Focus Group participants: are you an African Nova Scotian that no longer lives in an African Nova Scotian Community? The study purpose is to gain a deeper understanding of what makes African Nova Scotian cultural identity unique. The study will involve talking to African Nova Scotians who no longer live in their hereditary communities to understand how they describe, explain, and stay connected to their cultural identity. The Road to Economic Prosperity invites you to their 5th Annual Road to Economic Prosperity Summit . Marking the culmination of their 5-Year Plan and boldly launching into their 6–11 Year Strategy, the 2025 Road to Economic Prosperity (REP) Summit will bring together African Nova Scotian communities, leaders, and partners for a day of recognition, dialogue, and action. This year’s theme is “Roots and Wings: Grounded in History, Soaring to New Heights,” featuring keynote speakers, dignitary greetings, cultural performances, certificates of appreciation, and participatory sessions designed to both reflect on progress and map the road ahead.
