Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) is hiring a Curriculum Consultant for their Central Office.
As part of their Academic, Equity and Quality team, the Curriculum Consultant will be responsible for the planning, organization, co-ordination, and development and continuous improvement of all program and course curricula.
This role will also Provide support, facilitation and guidance to faculty working groups in the area of curriculum. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility and anti-racism.

NEW The Supporting Black Canadian Communities (SBCC) initiative portal is now open. The SBCC initiative was created by the federal government through Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to help increase the capacity of grassroots not-for-profit organizations serving Black communities in Canada. The objective of their Capacity Building Program is to provide project funding to support Black-led and/or Black-serving organizations to increase their organizational capacity and improve their workplaces and community spaces. The objective of their Capital Assistance Program is to provide project funding to support Black-led and/or Black-serving organizations to undertake significant capital projects that involve tangible assets like buildings, equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. The African Nova Scotian Music Association (ANSMA) has a couple opportunities:
1. The Annual ANSMA Awards are taking place October 9th at 7 pm. This is ANSMA’s flagship event that the community looks forward to. An evening of celebration, music, achievement and Black Excellence. Performances by some of the African Nova Scotian communities’ best talent can be expected when attending the awards, in addition to a variety of creatives being acknowledged for the work they have put in during the year. Call for Focus Group participants: are you an African Nova Scotian that no longer lives in an African Nova Scotian Community? The study purpose is to gain a deeper understanding of what makes African Nova Scotian cultural identity unique. The study will involve talking to African Nova Scotians who no longer live in their hereditary communities to understand how they describe, explain, and stay connected to their cultural identity. The Road to Economic Prosperity invites you to their 5th Annual Road to Economic Prosperity Summit . Marking the culmination of their 5-Year Plan and boldly launching into their 6–11 Year Strategy, the 2025 Road to Economic Prosperity (REP) Summit will bring together African Nova Scotian communities, leaders, and partners for a day of recognition, dialogue, and action. This year’s theme is “Roots and Wings: Grounded in History, Soaring to New Heights,” featuring keynote speakers, dignitary greetings, cultural performances, certificates of appreciation, and participatory sessions designed to both reflect on progress and map the road ahead. FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS
The Halifax Maternal Wellness Program is a new Halifax-wide initiative that supports mothers, birthing people and families during pregnancy, the postpartum and early parenthood. It’s completely free and offers: family, couples and perinatal counselling sessions, Mom-to-Mom Support Circle, a 6-week maternal wellness program twice a year, and information resources for new parents, partners and caregivers. African Nova Scotian and Black youth across Canada deserve mental health and well-being support informed by their rich cultures and diverse lived experiences. RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is a national, 24/7, bilingual E-Mental Health Support Service for Black youth. The service is free and available from coast to coast to coast. The North End Community Health Centre offers mental health services through their PAUSE Mental Health program. They are open from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays for over the phone appointments, and Wednesday’s for in-person appointments at 2131 Gottingen Street. Please call their toll free number (1-800-598-5270) at any time, and leave your name and phone number to be matched with a therapist.
