As an Injury Prevention Consultant, you will travel to various sites and collaborate with departments and clinical teams. They’re seeking occupational therapists or physiotherapist graduates to join their vital team and help identify workplace risks, develop strategies, and implement programs to keep our employees safe and supported.

  NEW    Call for Focus Group  participants: are you an African Nova Scotian that no longer lives in an African Nova Scotian Community? The study purpose is to gain a deeper understanding of what makes African Nova Scotian cultural identity unique. The study will involve talking to African Nova Scotians who no longer live in their hereditary communities to understand how they describe, explain, and stay connected to their cultural identity.   NEW   The Road to Economic Prosperity invites you to their  5th Annual Road to Economic Prosperity Summit . Marking the culmination of their 5-Year Plan and boldly launching into their 6–11 Year Strategy, the 2025 Road to Economic Prosperity (REP) Summit will bring together African Nova Scotian communities, leaders, and partners for a day of recognition, dialogue, and action. This year’s theme is “Roots and Wings: Grounded in History, Soaring to New Heights,” featuring keynote speakers, dignitary greetings, cultural performances, certificates of appreciation, and participatory sessions designed to both reflect on progress and map the road ahead.   The Association of Black Social Worker’s (ABSW) has a couple opportunities:

1. This is your invitation to a closed, virtual space ONLY for Black women to come together, share, and uplift one another:  Sis, You Good?  ABSW knows that life can be heavy, and sometimes you just need a safe space to check in, breathe, and feel supported. That’s what Sis, You Good? is all about – creating community, building resilience, and reclaiming wellness TOGETHER.  The PREP Academy online  Scholarship Directory  provides African Nova Scotian students access to a digital list of funding awards that can help support a student’s education. Organizations can POST awards for students to access. Click HERE to access. 


FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS

 The Halifax Maternal Wellness Program is a new Halifax-wide initiative that supports mothers, birthing people and families during pregnancy, the postpartum and early parenthood. It’s completely free and offers: family, couples and perinatal counselling sessions, Mom-to-Mom Support Circle, a 6-week maternal wellness program twice a year, and information resources for new parents, partners and caregivers.   African Nova Scotian and Black youth across Canada deserve mental health and well-being support informed by their rich cultures and diverse lived experiences.  RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is a national, 24/7, bilingual E-Mental Health Support Service for Black youth. The service is free and available from coast to coast to coast. Click HERE for more information.

 The North End Community Health Centre offers mental health services through their PAUSE Mental Health program. They are open from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays for over the phone appointments, and Wednesday’s for in-person appointments at 2131 Gottingen Street. Please call their toll free number (1-800-598-5270) at any time, and leave your name and phone number to be matched with a therapist.

  alongside   are providing support to people of African Descent in Nova Scotia with their  Provincial Impact Toll Free Line .
