Imhotep’s Legacy Academy

Imhotep’s Legacy Academy is hiring Culture of Growing Mentors. Positions are available in Truro, Digby, Sydney, Yarmouth and North Preston. Please note these roles are outside Halifax.

Working under the Culture of Growing Coordinator, Mentors engage Black youth through hands-on agriculture activities, mentorship and STEM-focused programming. The work includes running weekly agricultural activities with junior high and high school students, helping deliver events and program activities, and building relationships with parents, guardians, school administrators and teachers.

This is a part-time position at $17.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay, 6 to 8 hours per week, running September to August. Travel is required and training is provided. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and the posting is open until filled.

Applicants must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education in Nova Scotia. Youth mentoring or tutoring experience, gardening experience, and knowledge of African Nova Scotian history and culture are considered assets.

Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated interest and experience in issues affecting the education of learners of African Nova Scotian heritage.
