Community Outreach Coordinator
Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for two (2) permanent, full-time Community Outreach Coordinator positions in Programming & Partnerships, Community Safety.

Reporting to the Manager, Programs and Engagement, the Community Outreach Coordinator supports the development of Community Mobilization Teams by working with residents and stakeholders to identify safety concerns and implement community readiness assessments and mobilization strategies. The role supports ongoing efforts to raise awareness of Halifax’s Public Safety Strategy, enhance resources for communities impacted by violence, increase community resilience through training and workshops, and build the knowledge base of risk and protective factors related to violence.
Duties include supporting the design, implementation and analysis of community readiness assessments, asset mapping and safety audits; maintaining current knowledge of community safety concerns; facilitating community engagement; collaborating with business units and stakeholders on safety improvements; developing partnerships with community leaders, agencies, non-profits and other levels of government; conducting qualitative and quantitative research with a focus on diverse and marginalized communities; and producing reports, presentations and briefing notes.
Qualifications: post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Community Development, Gender or Equity studies or another relevant discipline; candidates without the formal education requirement but with equivalent professional, volunteer or community-based leadership experience will be considered. A minimum of three years’ experience working or volunteering in community organizing, mobilization, equity, inclusion and/or diversity is required. Experience conducting research to support reporting, recommendations, policy development or action planning is preferred. Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.
Salary: non-union level 6, $73,094 – $94,587 per annum, commensurate with education and experience. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, 35 hours per week, with evening and/or weekend work for at least three meetings per month; flex options and hybrid may be available.
