Electrical Estimator
Black & McDonald is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its Atlantic Region team, supporting projects across the commercial, government, industrial and institutional sectors. Recruitment is being handled by Facet.
Reporting to the Estimating Department Manager for Atlantic Canada, the Electrical Estimator will prepare medium to large electrical estimates from conceptual design through issued-for-construction documents. The role suits an electrical construction professional who enjoys diverse, challenging projects and collaborating with field teams, operations, clients and industry partners.
Responsibilities include preparing electrical estimates, budgets and value-engineering solutions; reviewing drawings, specifications, tender documents and addenda to define scope and identify risks; developing labour, material and equipment estimates and conducting pre-bid site visits; working with owners, consultants, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and field teams to support accurate and competitive bids; participating in bid reviews and supporting Operations following contract award; and contributing to lessons-learned discussions.
Required: an electrical trade certificate, Electrical Engineering degree, or Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma or certificate; 10+ years of electrical construction estimating experience; strong ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications; excellent communication and organizational skills; strong Microsoft Office skills; ability to obtain required security clearances; and a valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence. Pre-construction and design-build estimating experience, familiarity with Accubid/Trimble or comparable software, and knowledge of Nova Scotia occupational health and safety requirements are preferred.
