The Department of Opportunities and Social Development is hiring a Manager, Homelessness Programs in Halifax. This is a designated competition, open to applicants who identify as an Indigenous Person, African/Black Nova Scotian, or other Racialized Person.

Reporting to the Director of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, the Manager is responsible for the design, delivery, evaluation and monitoring of programs and services for individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness, including preventative programming. You will develop and maintain working relationships with service providers, community partners and colleagues across government to advance this work.

Primary accountabilities include managing and delivering strategic plans and communications for supportive housing initiatives, identifying and designing programs to shape future policy direction, consulting and collaborating with internal and community stakeholders, recommending improvements to existing processes and systems, and ensuring the effective management of human and financial resources.

Qualifications: a related bachelor’s or master’s degree combined with several years of professional experience demonstrating an understanding of the challenges, barriers and opportunities facing Nova Scotians experiencing homelessness and housing instability, along with knowledge of provincial and federal programs and data in this sector. Equivalent combinations of training, education and experience will be considered. Previous work or lived experience related to housing instability or homelessness is an asset.

Pay Grade EC 11. Salary range $3,571.99 – $4,465.03 bi-weekly. Typical work week is 35 hours with 7-hour days. This is a term opportunity with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2028; the appointment status (term, temporary or casual) depends on the successful candidate’s start date.
