Technical Manager

S.C. Delong Sales Inc. is recruiting a Technical Manager for a full-time position based in Dieppe, NB or Halifax, NS. The position is ideal for a self-motivated professional who knows how to build lasting relationships, and who understands that successful sales are equal parts technical astuteness and interpersonal skills.

The position supports the Sales Department. The successful candidate is responsible for assessing, identifying and securing new business, and will provide technical assistance at all steps — from assessing and responding to an RFP through to the project commissioning debriefing meeting. The role also builds solid relationships with engineers, architects and professional firms.

Desired experience includes outside technical or industrial sales, proposal writing, and technical know-how in hydronics and fluid mechanics, reservoirs, pumps (gear, vane and piston), control valves, actuators (cylinders and motors), hydraulic fluid, boiler operations and stationary engineering.

Please note that the posting states its education requirement two ways: in one place it asks for either an engineering technologist diploma with hydronics experience or an engineering degree with hydronics experience, and in another it states that a completed mechanical, process or industrial engineering degree is required. Candidates should confirm with the employer which applies. Hydronics certification, a PEng designation and a sales certificate are each listed as assets rather than requirements. Proficiency with MS Office and a PDF editor, advanced math, and experience with SolidWorks and MATLAB are also sought, along with an understanding of the sales cycle and outstanding communication, active listening and influencing skills. French language skills are an asset but not required.
