Personal Care Worker (1.0 FTE)

This position is designated for individuals who identify as African Nova Scotians, people of African Descent and/or individuals who identify as Indigenous.

The Personal Care Worker is a frontline role delivering person-centred support in a 24/7 supportive housing environment, combining direct care with mental health and substance use support.

Responsibilities include providing on-demand supports using a Housing First philosophy, following established policies and procedures, and working within the Brunswick Street interdisciplinary team supporting seniors aging in place with wraparound services focused on life skills, health and wellness.

Required qualifications: a minimum of two years of experience in mental health and substance use; harm reduction experience; experience in emergency shelter or transitional housing settings; and a demonstrated trauma-informed approach. Formal education in social or health services, lived experience with the population served, cultural training, and experience with complex health and social needs are considered assets.

Full-time, 1.0 FTE, based in Halifax. $24.91 to $28.37 per hour. No closing date is stated; the posting is open until filled.
