Peer Support Worker, Brunswick Street
This position is designated for individuals who identify as Indigenous.
The Peer Support Worker provides daily support, programming and mentoring to seniors aged 50 and over living in a supportive housing project on Brunswick Street, drawing on shared lived experience.
Responsibilities include delivering individualized, flexible support to 38 tenants; facilitating community engagement and access to resources; providing group programming and one-to-one mentoring; and working with a multidisciplinary team to help tenants maintain their tenancies.
Qualifications: one to two years of community support experience; at least 24 months of personal recovery history; a strong understanding of harm reduction principles; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and knowledge of local community resources. A valid driver’s licence is preferred. A current vulnerable sector screening is required.
Full-time in Halifax. $25.02 per hour. No closing date is stated; the posting is open until filled.
