Clinical Social Worker (MSW)

This position is designated for individuals who identify as 2STGD++, African Nova Scotians, people of African Descent and/or individuals who identify as Indigenous.

The Clinical Social Worker provides specialized mental health and psychosocial support to residents of the Overlook, a 60-bed supportive housing program serving people experiencing homelessness, substance use issues and chronic health conditions.

Responsibilities include conducting biopsychosocial-cultural assessments and case planning; delivering trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapeutic interventions; providing crisis support and de-escalation; facilitating group work and educational activities; navigating complex community systems and coordinating referrals; and supporting gender-affirming care coordination in line with WPATH standards.

Qualifications: a Master of Social Work from an accredited university; current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers; two or more years of community health or clinical social work experience; expertise in therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT and narrative therapy; experience working with marginalized populations and with harm reduction approaches; and knowledge of the DSM-V and mental health best practices.

Full-time, 1.0 FTE, based in Dartmouth. $40.18 to $55.49 per hour. No closing date is stated; the posting is open until filled.
